Square Enix partners with Gary Sinise Foundation

Square Enix has for many years allowed players to live out epic adventures and go on heroic journeys through amazing foreign lands. Now they are helping to support heroes in real life as well. As part of the upcoming launch of the new expansion to Square’s popular MMO Final Fantasy XIV, Shadowbringers, Square Enix has partnered with the Gary Sinise Foundation. For anyone not familiar, Gary Sinise is an actor and director best known for his portrayal of Lieutenant Dan in the film Forrest Gump. He formed the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2011 as another arm of his philanthropic endeavors on behalf of service members. Now, in partnership with Square, they aim to provide resources and support to America’s real life “Warriors in the Darkness”.

Shadowbringers is the latest expansion to Final Fantasy XIV, which is enjoying it’s largest player base to date at just over 16 million. It introduces new environments, races and jobs, inviting players to carve their own path to being a “Warrior in the Darkness”. Shadowbringers drops on July 2nd, and through August 14th anyone can visit the official Warriors in the Darkness website to donate and raise awareness for first responders and veterans. Square will match all donations 100% up to $50,000, and every penny will go directly toward national and local programs offering assistance to veterans, first responders, and their families.

You can visit the Warriors of Darkness website at https://www.warriorsinthedarkness.com/
